Studying and knitting...

They are the perfect partners... well for me anyway! When I have had enough of studying, I down tools and pick up my needles.... although I have to be careful. I have a tendency to want to knit more than study.... Procrastination no?

Well it is Week 3 at Tabor and I have already finished one assignment. I am hoping to get to the other one this weekend. I am organised so far! Although I did have an off week last week... so I do have a couple of lectures and a reading or two to catch up on. Did I say I was organised so far??? :) Well, assignment-wise at least!

It has been a busy week with mum in hospital with pneumonia... I have been back and forth all week... its the first time in ages that my petrol gague has hit the empty sign! But mum is coming home hopefully tomorrow, so all is good! She will have a long recovery process ahead of her, but I am sure it will be nice for her to sleep in her own bed and not have to share her room with three other ladies!

The kids are doing well. There was a funding review for Leah yesterday at school. They are working towards helping her transition into Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6) - they have already picked out her teacher - Ms Russell. And they are also talking about, come 2010, starting a transition process for her for high school - which will probably be Oxley High. OMGness... my baby is only 2 years off high school!

She is still struggling with confrontation, frustration and group interaction. There is an aide in the classroom to support the teacher as well as to help Leah through some of those issues - she still needs explicit instruction when faced with confrontation....

But there have been so many positives come out of the review... She is above stage level in literacy and numeracy, she has been targeted for a gifted and talented group for term 3 working with problem solving (maths not social :)), they are working towards preparing her for Tournament of the Minds next year and they had her join the debate team earlier this year, to help her with group/teamwork (and I guess, accepting a differing point of view!)

Steve was telling me tonight that she and Pa have joined the local RSL band which is more challenging music for her. She seems enthusiastic at the moment about it! She is going to the Zone athletics carnival on Wednesday and has her third grade exams for trumpet (AMEB) on Thursday...

So all in all, she is doing quite well and I am very proud of her!

Hannah is going through a bit of an argumentative phase... she is having trouble adjusting to the last few weeks... the kids found out just after they got back from my place at the end of July that Steve and his girlfriend Rebecca are getting married in January... and I think that has thrown her a little. Apparently there is also a bit of an issue with homework too... it seems that it is not coming home...so Mr Scarborough is keeping a close eye on Hannah as she walks to her bag, to ensure that the homework actually goes IN the bag! I don't know that it is that she doesn't want to do the homework... it is very Hannah to get distracted on the way to her bag!

And Steve was telling me today that Caleb is enjoying preschool - especially the dump trucks... I wonder if that has anything to do with the book I found him at the 2nd hand bookstore called Truck Talk that we read almost EVERY day that he was down here lol!

Here's a quick squiz at some of the projects I have finished in the last couple of weeks (just in case you were interested!)

This was Ella's birthday present - although I am hoping to get a photo of her wearing it at some stage because this pic doesn't really do it justice.

This was a headband (Molly's Headband) I knitted for a swap with a girl in Iowa, Jenni, through Rav. I also knitted one in red crochet cotton for Rach - which I delivered today - and she seems to like it!

And this is the Star-Crossed Slouchy Beret which I knitted for a swap with a girl in West Virginia, also through Rav. I have fallen in love with it and didn't want to send it... I will have to make another for myself I think!

A bit of a busy weekend here, with Tim and Emma up from Canberra. Ella's birthday party at lunch on Sunday (Yes! She is two!) ... and then church... AND I have to try and squeeze in an assigment - or at least the start of one!

I can't wait until next weekend though... I will be going up on the train for a flying visit (just overnight) for Hannah's 7th birthday... Where on earth is the time going? How is it possible that my babies are growing up! I can't wait to give her one of her presents in particular... its a Sugar Plum Fairy Dress and it is absolutely gorgeous! I will have to post photos when I get some!

I hope that all of you are well and loved!

You're sounding really positive, which is good to hear. Rach recently started knitting.... she's knitting woollens for babies in Africa or something like that. Scary- there are knitters everywhere!

Mwah hah hah! Yes, we knitters will one day conquer the earth and then proceed to cover it with one big giant ball of yarn!
