Exhausted!

I took the kids home today after their 12 day visit! We had an absolute ball and the kids were really well behaved for the most part... but we were SO busy! We were constantly on the go!

I picked up the kids from the Rutherford drop off point on the 11th and we dropped in on Aunty Liana, Uncle Gav, Keegan and Ronan for dinner on the way back through to Nowra. The kids enjoyed playing together and my kids especially were impressed with Aunty Liana's carob cake!

Sunday was a trip into town to pick up a couple of bargains at Target for Leah and lunch at Marriott Park. Then over to church. Leah and Hannah had a ball playing on the equipment at the school (where we meet) while Caleb chased his new friends Isabella and Sammy around the hall!

Monday saw us all pile into the car with Nanna and head down to the Shack at Narooma. The kids were a little disappointed when we first arrived though because daddy had been referring to it as Nanna and Poppy's "holiday house" and it turned out to be a caravan with a (permanent) annexe!

But they got over their disappointment quickly! They fell in love with the little park on site and, of course, with the beach! Leah and Hannah had a competition to see who could dig the biggest hole!

Caleb was exceedingly proud of himself when he finally mastered the tricky ladder dismount at the park!

After four days in Narooma, Leah didn't want to leave. But we all piled into the car and headed home.

Friday we visited Aunty Steph and Millie and Ruby. Ollie was at preschool, but Caleb wasn't too disappointed, and was happy to play with the Thomas train set and duplo in Ollie's absence! Leah and Millie found some common ground "jamming" together with their trumpets and dancing to Millie's CDs, while Hann and Ruby had a ball on the trampoline.

Saturday saw us head down to Bunnings for a garden workshop. The kids painted signs which were supposed to be for the garden... Leah and Hannah however decided that their signs would be put to better use in their bedrooms. We then headed out to Greenwell Point for lunch and a wander along the foreshore.

On Sunday, we headed over to Aunty Shell's to meet baby Beau and have some lunch together. Church followed and the kids were treated to DVD viewing on a very generous church member's laptop!

Monday took us into many shops as the girls embarked on their mission of spending their pocket money. We went to quite a few shops, identified what they would like, wrote down the price and then discussed how far you can actually make $40 stretch over lunch. It was a very educational process, but thoroughly exhausting at the same time!

We drove to Picton on Tuesday to have a picnic with the Dodds and several other ex, and current Toddler Time families. The kids had a ball playing on scooters and the play equipment! We dropped in on Aunty Fiona, Lachie and Ruby on the way home and spent a little time playing with them as well. Once at home, we had a special family dinner in honour of Uncle Lynton's birthday (although he was absent because he was on-call with the fire brigade). Leah pulled out her trumpet and played a concert for us. We were all very impressed and Uncle Shane said that Leah would be able to replace the trumpet player who played the Last Post and Revellie at the local RSL as she played the pieces much better than he!

Wednesday saw Leah and Hannah head to COOSH for a messy play day and for a chance to catch up with some old Cambewarra friends. Aunty Liana, Keegan and Ronan came for a train ride to Bomaderry, so Caleb and I went down to Bomaderry to meet them and to wander down to the park. After we said goodbye to the Whittens, we headed home to make (and play) play dough, watch In The Night Garden and pack.

Today was a very early start (5:30am) in order to catch the 6:50 train to Central... the kids travelled fairly well for the most part (except for when Caleb decided to bite Leah!) We coloured-in, read stories and ate (and ate!) to pass the time....

It was sad to say goodbye at Maitland - Leah, in particular, found this very hard - but overall the kids handled themselves really well. I was so proud of them....

And tomorrow? I think I will sleep ;)
